Concept
No work of art is supposed to exist for its own sake.
A particular work of art appears three times to me as an artist:
First, in my mind as an idea.
Second, physically after being created.
Third, in a social context through the reaction of others.
All three stages are equal valuable and irreplaceable.
Art can be fairly easy to understand, but it should retain a certain complexity. All themes, even the most serious one, should be dealt with a bit of humor.
About
- I am a Norwegian sculptor and a contemporary artist living and working in the city of Trondheim.
- Certain aspirations and endeavors may be characteristic for my work. I might say that the inspiration for doing my work comes from within as a result of inner impulses, moments of me. Sometimes some aspects of human condition carry me away, or a memory, a thought that keeps bobbing up, making me feel for a while that the combination of extraordinary grace and utter triviality they exude makes all other possible aspects of life incredible hollow.
- I use various kinds of techniques and different materials, trying to find the one that expresses my thought and ideas best. I often use materials such as rubber, glass, plastic and metals like aluminum, steel, silver and zinc. They might be welded, carved, cast or just painted.
- Any form can be interesting as the way of appearance largely depends on the theme, the content and the technique.
- Even if I have exhibited mostly in Norway I have had several exhibitions abroad. Especially in The United States but also in European countries.
